my husband poured drano in our sink last nighta nd I used the toothbrush this morning that was next to the sink. I am pregnant and scared some got on the brush. I had a burp with some vomit in it this morning. Did the drano cause this and will it hurt my baby?

Your hubby should be more carefull . If you had ingested drano you would have blood in your vomit dw it was just a bit of morning sickness

if you are still conscious enough to use the computer, then it is very unlikely that you have caused any damage. But if you are conscious enough to use the computer, why are you not conscious enough to CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!!

It's possible that it caused the vomiting, but there is absolutely no need to worry about it affecting you or your child in any way. Drano is certainly nasty stuff, but you'd have to drink a lot of it to do any damage to yourself. Drano is a strong alkali, whereas your stomach has a strong acid in it. When you mix the two together, it can cause vomiting. It's the same as adding baking powder to vinegar. As noted by previous answers, if you feel burning in your throat, you may wish to see a doctor. In the mean time, have a glass of milk, which will help. If you know the exact brand of cleaner you are using, you can look it up in this database, which gives more information (http://hpd.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/household/prodtree?prodcat=Inside+the+Home&purpose=Drain). Chemically speaking, drano is very simple. It contains sodium hydroxide (also known as caustic soda or lye) sodium nitrate (also used as a food preservative), sodium chloride (table salt) and aluminium. Your body can break down all of these substances easily, especially in the amount you could fit onto a toothbrush. It is worth noting that the effects of ingesting this product are acute; i.e. they occur over a short period of time. There are NO known long term health problems associated with drano.

It shouldn't hurt the baby but will definitely hurt your esophagus and stomach. Read the Caution on the can and see the doctor immediately.

You are fine. The level of Drano that could have possibly been on your brush is not enough to cause harm to you or your baby. The thought may have caused the burp with vomit, but the Drano didn't. You are absolutely, 100% fine.

Lauren
I would suggest going to the doctors.
