Basilar migraine (BM), also known as Bickerstaff syndrome, affects in adolescent girls and young women most frequently, and may be due to genetics. Basilar Migraines is a condition found in most children.[citation needed] Usually, children with this condition outgrow it.[citation needed] It is like an anxiety attack, but worse.

- Understand what happens when you get a basilar migraine.
- Avoid alcohol. Consuming alcohol can trigger this kind of migraine, or make it worse.
- Eat healthy! Children who eat healthy make Basilar Migraines easier to cope with and feel better too![citation needed]
- Sleep well!
- Reduce stress in your life!
- Keep well hydrated and eat.
Tips
- Remember that lots of kids have this condition and you are not alone.
- Some kids may have episodes during certain times. Keep well hydrated and eat.
- During an episode, the child may swallow their tongue. Do not let them swallow their tongue! They could choke on it.
- Children often act confused. Ask questions like "Where are you?" or "Who am I?" to jog their memory.
