what is the best predictor for risk of a stroke?
A. blood pressure
B. LDL cholesterol
C. HDL cholesterol
D. trans-fatty acid intake
Blood pressure and knowing your family history are the two main keys. Even though I was on blood pressure medicine, I had a mild stroke in 2003; I took two medicines for a while but now back to one. Because of knowing what was happening(my father and all his family members died of stroke and/or aneurysms), taking an aspirin and getting quick medical attention is what saved me; I also said a prayer to God to clear my thoughts and sight, because I could not see and my thoughts were scrambled a little. The only after effects I have are numbness in my right hand fingers and my right foot toes feel different. A condition known as mitral valve prolapse of the heart can also throw a clot or air bubble up to the brain, causing a mild stroke. My neurologist believes that is what caused mine, even though my blood pressure was very high at the time of the stroke.
