My vote is for the dermatologist too. Most over the counter treatments can cause dry skin or rashes, particularly in people with sensitive skin, so the dermatologist might have various prescription products to try that are gentler and more effective. If she can't go to a dermatologist due to financial concerns, make sure she's not getting her hair care products on her back. I wish I could remember the name but there's some common ingredient found in lots of conditioners that will encourage acne if it drips down your back in the shower. So have her wash her hair with her head flipped forward in the shower, rinse thoroughly, and then after all the shampoo and then all the conditioner is out, flip back up and go about washing and use a buffing wash cloth (I have one from Target) but only use it lightly. Scrubbing acne anywhere will make it worse because it will irritate the skin and probably break the skin leading to infection and a light touch will be fine enough. Then maybe use a salicylic acid based body wash and let it sit on the back for about a minute then rinse. She might want to use a salicylic lotion on her back too. But nothing replaces a dermatologist so I still say check that out. |
