I am not a doctor but I do work in the medical field,I can only tell you that God will take you when he is ready. A positive attitude and a supportive family and friends can make a world of difference also a second opinion has saved many patients. Good luck and try to stay positive. |

You should discuss this with your doctor, he should be better equiped to tell you what to expecct. You can also go to www. cancer.org and read the message boards. You are not alone and joining one of the message boards can help you find the answers your looking for. Better yet remember that only God determines when your needed by his side and not a doctor or anyone else. Also you may contact Regional Hospice in your area, they are very knowledgable on Cancer and Terminal Illnesses. We just lost my brother in law in Nov.
God Bless you and help you through your ordeal. You'll be in my prayers. |

Nobody can tell you for certain.
I believe a lot depends on if you want to live, and how much you want to live. I had an uncle who lived with lung cancer in his one remaining lung, for 5 years longer than any doctor believed was possible. He wanted to live.
My father died (at home) about 6 hours after seemingly sucessful (out-patient) prostate cancer surgery.
I've known others who died within 3 months of diagnosis, or within 30 days of surgery. They just didn't have a desire to fight to live.
You might want to check out the National Cancer Institute web site, to see if you can find the answer to your question there, or through any of the links they provide:
http://www.cancer.gov/cancer_information/support/
I wish you all the best. |

With chemo therapy anything up to 6 years. Without chemo, about 6 months to 2 years depending on how aggressive it is. Most prostrate cancers are very slow growing and people die of other causes along the way.
Guess you got unlucky. So did I. Bummer. |

No one can tell you for sure. Your doctor can tell you approximately how long for the majority of people. But a couple of standard deviations could mean a lot more time, or less. Get your affairs in order. Sorry. |

I have tried essiac tea (8 herb remedy) to no avail yet, don't give up though it may work for you. original recipe might be better (4 herb) can find on internet . careful on lupron shot, may have serious reaction. I'm running out of options myself and grasping at straws for survival. the real question is... will the quality of life after the quest for cure be fathomable or even realistic to imagine? do you let them keep cutting pieces of your body away? is it worth it... |

No-one can answer that. Even doctors get it wrong. I'm sorry I can't tell you what you want to hear.
Do you have a specialist nurse or a Macmillan nurse? Have a chat with them about things. |

Everyone is different, and your frame of mind and will to go on can have alot to do with it. Didn't your doctor give you any idea? Have you tried other doctors? Some are more aggresive and modernistic than others. Before setting your mind on the worst, get some more opinions, you might have more hope than you think. Good luck, I'll be praying for you! |

FYI
I had a good friend who had cancer that had
metastized to the bones and he lived for 14 more years. He followed a strict organic food
regimen and followed a diet recommended by a book he bought from a source in the UK.
I think it is possible for someone to follow a strict diet regimen such as Budwig diet and extend survival rate. There are some good books with excellent info about how to live with
prostate cancer that has metastized to other
parts of the body. There was a gentleman named Cliff Beckwith who followed Budwig regimen and he lived for a number of years with a serious prostate problem.
Good Luck

I want you to do something for me! Please go and buy the book "The Secret". This book is about the power of positive thinking. In it it talks about a man who was told he didn't have long to live because he had cancer and it had spread. This man refused any treatments and said "No, I am NOT going to die" and he walked out of that office and he lived for 20 years! It has been proven that when a doctor gives their patients HOPE they have a better chance of survival. Don't ask for a time frame. If you are told you only have a few months, or a few weeks to live, and you BELIEVE it, then chances are, you won't live long...but If you tell yourself you aren't going to die, then your chances are better of having a longer time frame. I am so sorry. I can't imagine what you are feeling. I will pray for you! Warm Hugs and God Bless!!!! |

Dad? Sorry that's just sounds way to familar! lol My father is going through the same thing right now to a tee! He found out August/september he had prostate cancer and had the operation in December. Yes it also spend. But anyways! What did your Doctor say? Did they start other treatment yet! Did they talk about hormome treatment or radiaion?
Do not give up! Prostate cancer is one of the most treatable cancer! Everyone is different, and so we can answer how long you have. I don't want to give up on my daddy! so don't you give up either. :) When did you find out it was terminal? Pretty fast after operation in december? I am sorry though. |
