I had them for years when I was a kid.
Braces hurt any time you get them tightened (usually once a month or so). Your mouth will be sore for a couple of days (asprin will be your friend) and then you'll forget your wearing them for the rest of the time.
They don't hurt 24/7 but they do for a couple of days after they are tightened. All you can do is tough it out a couple of days a month and you'll be fine. |

Well I have braces at the moment and I asked the same question to my dentist and they all said the same thing "no, they dont"
The wire they are putting in your mouth is shaped a specific way. Once its put on your teeth, its out of form, so its going to push and pull on your teeth until it is back in its original form.
That means, yes for 2-3 days it will have pressure on your teeth, but thats okay, because smoothies and a soft diet will fix that pain.

i havent had the experance my selef but my friend got braces and he said that whean thay put theam on thay num your moth so you dont fell any thing afterwords you cant eat any thing for an houre or so i know that beacuse i got my moth numbed whean i had a cavady any wayl you cant eat penatbutter chips cereal with cafean in it undiet soda apples or any thing hard no carmle or any other sticky candy or food like gum and prety much nothing with high amounts ofcaffane in it if you also get a retaner than whean you get youe braces off it might stay on afterwords so thats all i hafe to say and i hope it helps. |

it depends! i had the kind of braces that tighten when it feels heat. So it started hurting after about an hour. Lets just say your meals for the week are yogart and soup! its not that bad, just dont bump your chin too hard! that hurts! |

im just getting my braces of this july !
and i can truly say they first day for me hurt alot !!!! like 30 min after they put them it was already hurting and i couldnt eat anything i ate soup for like 3 days! |

I don't even remember when my braces were put on, but I do remember the dreaded adjustments. It wasn't so painful in the dentist office, but you knew that it would hurt later. Just take some ibuprophen or ask for a prescription pain killer from the Dentist, or see a Doctor. Just don't hit your teeth,and wear a mouth guard when you sleep. |

Does hurt, it is more annoying than anything. Can have scratches on your lips and sometimes it can feel strained. |

i have just recently got mine off!
when you first get them on it doesn't hurt, its just very loud.
After about a 3-5 days, the pain starts to kick in.
but its not to bad, you will live!
The part that hurts most is when you get them tightened.
Don't be nervous, it will all be worth it!

got mine last sunday.
it hurt like hell the first 2-3 days. at first it didn't hurt at all but then overnight it started to hurt so bad i wanted to pull my teeth out. it hurt to eat anything !! (including rice pudding) :)
but don't worry after a week it'll be perfectly fine.
it'll also start cutting the inside of your mouth a little but that'll get better too in about 3 days |

no it won't hurt but u might feel uncomfortable eating bout 3 hours later and some people feel that it hurts the next day but ur just adjusting to the braces

it won't hurt your teeth but it will make it uncomfortable for the inside of your lip, and no they don't hurt when they put them on, they just glue it on and taking them off is so easy |

ok i would say spacers are more saw than braces, but no they don't hurt when they are getting put on but within 2 hours it will START to hurt.. im not gunna lie to you.
but enjoy your new teeth =] xo. |

i got mine on just under a year ago.
while they're being put on it might be a bit uncomfortable because the thing they use to hold your mouth open can cut a bit but its bearable. just be prepared to dig your nails into your leg a bit. =P
afterwards it will be a bit weird feeling but it just takes some getting used to. and for the first few days it might hurt but just stick to soft foods and smoothies and you'll be fine!
it really isn't as bad as it sounds though believe me, you will be absolutely fine!

No they don't hurt at all. You hardly even feel it, i'd say it feels kinda like getting your teeth cleaned. I didn't even notice when she was done, she told me and i was lik oh okay.
Just remember to wear chapstick because they stretch your lips alot! |

i had braces twice before. you typically don't feel pain when they put them on, but you should start to feel pain within 24 hrs. when you have your braces taken off, they feel much better. But don't worry, after a few days to a week, you get used to it, and don't even notice it. |

I have them now...
I was really exited to get them 2...
In my opinion, Spacers hurt way more...
When I got braces I felt fine and they didnt hurt at all...
But it depends on how crooked ur teeth are...
If u have 2 get teeth pulled like I did then they tighten ur braces, Then that is when it starts 2 hurt...
There is nothing 2 be nervous about tho until u hear that u have 2 get ur teeth pulled...
It will start hurting when the braces start 2 cut the inside of ur mouth...
But always where the wax the dentist gives u 2 put on ur braces 2 make it smooth and keep from cutting ur mouth...
So be sure u wear the wax and everything will be good
But dont be nervous...
Everything will be fine for now... I Promise
All the pain, if any Will all be worth it! Everyone I know that had braces said that everything was worth it...
But when u get them off be sure 2 wear ur retainer or they will get crooked, I am 99% sure that ur teeth will go back crooked if u dont wear a retainer... Just letting u know :)

For some reason mine hurt more than others.
Mine didn't start hurting until maybe 45 minutes to an hour after I had gotten them on.
It was so bad for me, like it hurt even when I wasn't moving my jaw.
But hey, Everyones different.

No it doesn't hurt when they put them on. It's a couple hours later when they really start to hurt. Not the braces themselves, but they make your teeth feel like they're all going to fall out. This will go away in a couple days. Good luck. |
