Medical negligiance???
would it be medical negligance if a doctor diagnosed u you a serious STD that you really didnt have and even treated you for it causing lots of problems?????? Additional Details well it all begin with a UTI and i took cipro which caused a yeast infection that was given by my medical dr.i made the gyno aware of this situation plus over that weekend i had called the on-call gyn and they called me diflucan which really didnt help so on tuesday i called the nurse at the gyno and she said come in immediately but my gyno was out and i had to see a different gyno.my yeast infection was real bad plus i was passing kidney stones well he looked in that area and was like hmm it could be poision ivy or herpes and i thought he was making a joke.i knew it could be neither i was like no it's an extremely bad yeast infection so he did a swab test blah blah and wrote me a script for valtrex 2 times a day, microdantin 2 times a dayx30 days plus diflucan 100mgx30 days not to mention i had also developed a bladder infection on top of this.when my gyno got back in i was retested and i was negative 4 herpes plus she was astonished that he prescribed so much antibiotics and diflucan?
It is negligence per se as doctors have an obligation to use a certain standard of care in practice.

This is a tough question without more information. In order to truly prove medical negligence you would have to prove that the doctor or health care professional was not acting in your best interest and/or actually trying to harm you. Did your doctor not take tests to diagnose the STD before you were treated?

1. So the Cipro caused a yeast infection. (common in women.)
2. You had a kidney stone.
3. Your yeast infection got worse. You developed a UTI.
4. The MD treated you for an infection that looked so bad he thought it could be worse than just yeast.
It sounds like the MD treated you with the right combo of drugs, you were given multi drugs, but appropriate doses of each. Yes, maybe overkill, but letting Herpes go untreated would have been worse on his part. What problems did he cause??? I'm glad you tested neg for herpes. I hope your yeast infection is cleared up.

let it go, this is nothing. they were trying to help you and unless you have some permanent damage from it you are wasting your time.

Yes...possible..or did the lab make a mistake or something?

Yes, he should have sent you to a specialist to confirm diagnosis. This is malpractice.

In the country where I live 18 thousand people die each year from adverse reactions of prescription medicine. If a doctor prescribes medicine and his/hers patient dies from an adverse reaction to those drugs than the doctor should be held criminally liable....

the responsibility of a doctor is to act with your best interest in mind, granted, there are times when real mistakes can be made and people can actually have adverse reactions due to their MD's advice. But if you had had herpes (which i am very glad u don't) then you would have been greatful he treated you with what he did. I don't think there was any negligence here, and it's kind of the same with all professions, what one dr saw as being an overkill another dr saw as being safe, there will always be difference in opinions and practices. I say let it go and stick with who u trust as often as you can. Oh, and by the way, i don't remember who said it, but i doubt there is such thing as a "herpes specialist" and as for your other problems, you did see a specialist. It's called your gyno. come on people.
