heyheyheyley | Nausea, diarrhea, appetite loss, bloating, stomach pain for 3 months? |
I am constantly bloated, have watery BMs, am ever hungry and always feel on the verge of puking.
it began about 6 months ago after having surgery- I felt naseous constantly, but I figured it was the stress of the surgery, and got used to it.
in august, I started having diarrhea. my BMs don't come any more/less often than before, but it's always diarrhea.
in september, the constant bloating and complete appetite loss began.
in October, my stomach finally became significantly painful. it starts anywhere from 15 mins to 1 hour after eating/drinking ANYTHING- 3 baby carrots, a large meal, whatever- and gradually fades. peptobismul, tums, etc never help. when I don't eat, my stomach doesn't hurt.
surprisingly, I have lost no weight through this nightmare- I even look fatter because of my bloated belly.
I saw my general practitioner, who had my blood tested for crohn's, celiac, and thyroid problems. everything was normal except for elevated igg and iga levels- indicative of celiac disease. however, after having a negative small intestine biopsy, I have been declared celiac-free.
now, my new gastroenterologist is saying that I have IBS, which I know is the go-to diagnosis when they can't figure it out.
what could this be?! I feel like no one is taking me seriously because I'm not dropping weight or having 20 BMs a day. I feel like my symptoms are being forced to fit IBS symptoms... there are subtle unexplained differences that are leaving me dissatisfied with my diagnosis (ex: constantly bloated, not just after eating; naseous; never hungry- not because I'm afraid of what food will do to me, but because my brain never reminds me to eat because I never feel hungry; etc)
I'm 17; female; 5'9"; 130 pounds; exercise 1hr 5x a week; and am generally unhealthy- my current flu is following a 3 week long cold.
if anyone has any ideas/similar experiences to share, I would be very appreciative. thank you so much! |
