Yes symptomatic of bleeding in the stomach or upper gastric tract is the vomiting of black blood. As was said when blood comes into contact with gastric fluid it turns black. It is possible you have some kind of GERD and when you relaxed in sleep some of the fluid came back up and started you coughing. You may not have eaten a full stomach worth but if you vomited black then your stomach was at least partially full of blood. The system does not like blood where it isn't supposed to be therefore the vomiting. My only extra question is have you noticed any very dark and/or tarry stools? Either way you need to get to the doc tomorrow. Tonight sleep sitting up in a chair or on some pillows. You probably won't sleep well but chances are you won't be as likely to throw up as you really don't want to inhale blood in your lungs. See the statement about the body not liking blood where it isn't supposed to be. Best of luck get yourself checked tomorrow. But if you start throwing up redder blood or even more black get to an ER now. You can lose a lot of blood that way if there is an active bleeder even a small one. |

Your stomach produces Hydrochloric Acid to help in digestion of food. When blood comes in contact with this, it turns greyish-black.

Hello,
I'm sorry about this. I need you to realize that this is very serious and you need to visit a doctor asap. Tell your doctor to take an x-ray on your chest. You could have a parasite in your lungs that is causing inflammation that is causing you to cough excessively and bloody. Have u eaten anything raw foods recently? |
