Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest cancers to diagnose, so by the time it is discovered it can often be very advanced..due to this the prognosis is usually very poor. however each case has to be considered individually. i'm sorry if you were hoping for a more positive reply, all the best to you x

The survival rate of pancreatic cancer is about 2%.
If it is caught early the rate is slightly higher.
It is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer and is often not discovered until it has spread to other organs.
Sorry to say it is not good. Luckily it is not one of the cancers where you are ill for years and years and it is only really painful in the last couple of weeks.
Two of my friends have died from this in the last couple of years.

Hello Cyanara
It's not good im afraid.
Carcinoma of the pancreas is known as one of the 'silent killers'
At diagnosis, unfortunately, only about 5% of patients survive (UK stats)
Cancer of the pancreas develops slowley and produces no symptoms at all, and it is only when it is really advanced it produces symptoms, usually retrosternal pain, that it is discovered.
Surgery and chemo/radio therapy produces a hand full of survivors buts thats it im afraid.
If there is a history of pancreatic cancer in your family, yearly abdominal scans may be helpful but I think that would have to be via the private route.
