Alcohol temporarily overwhelms your liver's ability to produce glycogen. This means you are not producing any basal sugar and cannot excrete a rush of glycogen if you are to become hypoglycemic: you have no 'cushion.'
If you're on medication or insulin for your diabetes, always eat something like bread before drinking, or drink with a meal, and test your blood glucose frequently after eating. If you drink a sugary drink and use insulin, bolus no more than half your usual dose the first time, until you learn how your body reacts to insulin. Make sure people around you know that you're diabetic- hypoglycemia and drunkenness can be fatally confused by bystanders.

NO!!!!!!!! Alcohol is like drinking pure sugar! You are not supposed to drink at all if you are diabetic, that is a good way to get into a coma.
