You have a wonderful career planned, go for it. Cancer, unfortunately, is going to be around for a long time so don't be concerned about that job becoming obsolete. My siblings and I would keep you busy. In my case it's Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and there are at least 35 variations of just that kind.

So you are worried about job security? Cancer treatment has improved - even the way radiation is delivered, but I don't think we will see a "cure" in your lifetime.
oncogenomics
No, if a treatment which can kill all cancer cells involved radiation. Yes, if it did not.
One important point as mentioned, cancer is not one disease but many diseases. Each cancer type is defined by the set of genetic mutations and the cell affected. We are a long way from finding a cure for even one cancer type. So, I would not worry about having radiation therapist jobs being obsoleted.
Raine
Wouldnt that be fantastic?? i for one would be over joyed to see these people out of a job.. and if they were on here i bet thy would agree,...Any way,go be a radiotherapist, help those less fortunate, and be good at it,. . . only the best will do
