Dr Frank

this is a phenomena which came over from the States a few years ago, there everyone and his brother, and his brothers friend call themselves doctor. This includes dentist, vets and chiropractors!
Medical doctors in hospital and GPs in UK are generally M.B.s which stands for Bachelor of Medicine. Thus their Dr. title is honorary also and really refers to their job status, since they do not have a doctorate.
A small percentage of medical doctors in UK also take additional examinations and become M.D.s. This is a true Doctor of Medicine degree.
Things are different in the States the most common medical degree is the M.D. so their title is accurate.
Increasingly more professionals have began applying honorary doctor titles in UK also |
