yes, a very very small amount of calorie burning fuels the brain's functioning
also there's enough electricity in your brain to light a bulb briefly
other things in your brain would include, dust, some leftover cheese pizza (ick! who orders it with only cheese anyway?) and um some scrabble tiles you hid when you were cheating
(oh and many many guilty and
s e x u a l thoughts and hostile deviant desires you repressed(like that time you wanted to kill the mailman just so you could look through his bag (naughty naughty!) |

Yes, in fact it does.
Here is a calorie burning calculator. "Thinking" would probably be the same as "reading" or "studying." |

Thinking increases the metabolic activity of the brain. It is an energy dependent process so it does burn calories.
Compared to the amount of energy consumed in muscle contractions the effect is minimal but nonetheless apparent. |

Well technically speaking yes, thought does require calories in order to fire individual neurons. But don't think that you can lose weight by just thinking, because thought does not burn a substantial amount. |

My computer is so slow I hate it

Nope............ but smelling bananas and apples does |

Yes it does, but not that many. But I think it's stress that affects you more than the process of calm thinking. |

not thinking in particular, but your body is always burning calories by being awake.
in fact, did you know that your body burns more calories sleeping than by watching tv!!
try developing a 'nervous thinking habit', like tapping your foot when you are working, you will burn more calories that way than by thinking and not tapping your foot!
=D |

yes.
every moment of every day, everythng you do burns calories, even if it's just a teensy amount. thinking involves using ur brain, which means you need blood to flow to ur head, which means ur heart has to pump the blood. however, it doesn't burn enough to, say, be useful to a dieter. |

I think in a way it does. Believe it or not, you burn more calories in class, or reading a book then you do watching television. I remember reading some where once, that when you watch television you tend to zone out, which lowers your body's metabolism more then being engaged in a book. However, it's not a miraculous jump (I believe you burn 1 extra calorie a minute) and nothing beats good old fashioned exercise. Sadly...:D |
