you're a big kid at 6 foot!
don't worry about the weight unless you're not feeling fit. obviously, you're still pretty active, so it's not like you can be all that out of shape...
you're probably STILL growing. |

Hmmm... 170-175 is an appropriate weight for someone your height. However, muscle is an important factor. Guys with muscles from actively playing sports are naturally going to weigh more.
Since you're involved in football, which is a contact sport, you're going to need a lot of that weight. Like the person above me said, hit the weights, since muscle burns fat, and the extra muscle will aid you more. But don't pack it on too much, or else your basketball game might suffer, since you need to be able to jump.
Maybe 190 would be a good weight for you. |

Dude, You are fine what you should do is hit the weights. By hitting the weights your fat turns into muscle you would be a monster by the time you are 17 and be good in sports. I did this when I was your age and got some college scouts looking at me for football but I wrestle instead. |

I think you should lose like 15 pounds, because football players should be big, in muscle. |

You'd probably have to weigh about 175 for B-ball and you're fine now for football. |

Calculate your body mass index (BMI)... search for a body mass index calculator online. It calculates your height to weight ratio so you can see where you currently lie and what is healthy. |

As long as you are healthy and stay active you are fine. If you think you need to lose any weight 20 pounds max would be ideal. If you play football and basketball, I assume that you are also doing some weight training. If not, then it would be a good idea to start. Contrary to what another answerer said, fat does not turn into muscle (and vice versa). They are two totally different things. You burn fat through cardio exercise and gain muscle through resistance training. Lean muscle mass is what you're aiming for. Good luck! |

My guess is that you want to be under 200 - probably around 180 or so... If you are active and eat right though, you may be fine considering that muscle weighs more than fat. If you are pudgy though, then you might want to add some running - 30 min every other day will melt away the fat. |

about 30 to 40 pounds, lose it slowly though because u will lose all of that muscle if u go on a crash diet |
