After getting a MASSAGE, should the therapist be tipped?
not if you are never going to see them again, ever. or you don't appreciate what they have done for you.
kay_flood
Would you tip your doctor? Wouldyou tip a nurse? Would you tip a physical therapist? I don't think so, so why would you tip a licensed professional for a massage?
practical guy
Yes - $5 - $20 depending on the cost of the massage.
Most places, it's not legal to tip students though.
wet405
i dont think so its there job and they are being payed for it. sh*t i should get tipped for answering questioned. thats just ridiculous
Yikes!
Ask before hand, sometimes it is included in the price but typically they should be tipped.
Lara <:(((><
oh may ;)
depends on how much you paid same as always 15%
Pink
yes, 10-15 per cent.
rich_sanders
Yes. I tip 20%.
guts7575
what kind of "tip" are you talking about?
zebra
depends on how good of a job she did or how how she is
conman255
Probably.
babydoll
Yes, unless (s)he is the owner of the business.

Any service you have performed usually a tip is given. If you feel the therapist did a good job, then tip accordingly. A $5 or $10 tip should be good enough. If you feel she/he did an excellent job then give a little more. Showing appreciation through a monetary tip will assure you an excellent massage next time.

I dunno, ask Senator Foley

DUH!!!!!!! Of course!!!
You tip your manicurist and pedicurist, your hair stylist, your masseuse, your facialist, your server at a restaurant, your bartender... everyone, pretty much.

It depends if you got a "happy ending" or not.
jenna_71591

As a massage therapist, I understand in reading these answers, why the general public is all over the map on tipping. Service industries, such as manicurists, massage therapists, waiters, hairstylests, etc... DO work for tips.
Many people tip differently depending on where the service is provided, however that is wrong. Whether I work at a chiropractic office or a day spa, my work is the same and tips ARE appreciated. Medical offices pay the worst (usually) for therapists, thus the reason tips are so helpful.
Because many people believe it is NOT okay (or correct/proper) to tip a therapist at a doctor's office - many therapists don't stay in those jobs very long. We can't afford to.
If you feel better and believe that the massage session helped, tipping the therapist is your way of encouraging that therapist to stay at the doctor's office and continue to be a part of your "team". Without tips, I can assure you, therapists leave over time and the patients end up with a new therapist every 6 months or so. Each time, the therapist is gone just when they are starting to really learn how to work on you.
The new therapist that is hired in is usually straight out of school, because most with years of experience are not interested in low paying jobs where there are no tips.
Oh, and as for "happy endings" that's NOT part of massage therapy in the real world boys. Grow up.

yes

only if they give you a "happy ending". just kidding...I think so, yeah.

If it's in a medical situation - no. If it's at a spa, then you should tip them the standard amount when you pay for your services.
