If you dont think you can handle it all anymore on your own, I think it would be good for you, but chances are it just needs to run its course. Try occupying yourself doing something you usually enjoy.. keep your mind busy reading, or writing, etc.. you just really have to find time to not worry about your problems, and the things that are making you feel like that.. I was going through depression at one point.. I was depressed for over five years, finally I started to notice the more things I did that I usually enjoyed even if I wasnt feeling up to doing it if I made myself, Id start getting into it, and it kept me busy so I didnt think about my problems.. things slowly started to get better, I learned how to work past what was making me depressed.. Talking to friends, and family somtimes helps too, thats what they will be making you do if you go for therapy so try doing all this first, if you have, and it just dont seem to be working for you then go get some professional help.. I know I was at the point where it was either lock myself up in a hospital, or who knows what.. I didnt know what to do so because I had too much on the line if I locked myself away I decided to let it work out on its own, in its own time.. with me just keeping busy with things I liked doing.

YES! Absolutely, but "IF" you cannot or don't feel like it, then stay here and talk to us, remember we are a family and we are always with you, remember we love you and care for you, so does your friends and family, but before you do anything, go out and breath some fresh air, that will help.

You aren't exactly giving me a lot of information about yourself or rather the gravity of your depression and how it effects your life. Therefore I don't know if it is necessary yet to admit yourself to a hospital. But you should definitely consult a psychologist and get therapy. They can let you know what helps you best. But please, do yourself a favor and don't wait too long to do so. You might risk to deepen your depression if you don't get help (may it be the hospital, medication, therapy...) And realizing that you are very depressed shows, that you do need help. It is a big accomplishment already that you know that you are depressed since you can take this knowledge and seek help.
I hope you will be able to smile again....

I think you should

You could, but that may not be what you need. Are you taking medication? Is it not working anymore or has it never worked well? Many places have ERs for mental health. I hope you have one and can go there and be evaluated and let the doctor decide whether you need inpatient treatment. I have suffered from extreme depression but have never been inpatient. Have you even been treated for that in the hospital?I heard it can really freak you out if you don't know what to expect.
The best advice I can give you is to do something. Don't stay home alone. If you have to be admitted then do so. But please, please just get some help.

Maybe you should see a Dr first before you go to that extreme.....

Depression is a serious medical condition. Everyone experiences "ups" and "downs" in their life. But for some people the "downs" can outweigh the "ups." This can cause problems with everyday activities such as eating, sleeping, working, and getting along with friends. If this happens for more than a few weeks, depression may be the reason.
Depression affects a person's physical health, as well as how he or she feels, thinks, and acts toward others. It brings about a mixture of feelings and thoughts that can cause someone to depart from his or her usual behavior.
Depression is very common — it affects an estimated 19 million American adults every year. Nearly twice as many women (6.5%) as men (3.3%) suffer from depression each year. The good news is that it is possible to manage the symptoms of depression.
Although the exact causes of depression are unknown, it may be due to a chemical imbalance in the brain. Serotonin and norepinephrine are 2 chemicals used by some nerve cells to communicate. These chemicals, called neurotransmitters, are thought to be linked to depression. Therefore, medications that affect these neurotransmitters may play a role in treating depression.
A person may experience symptoms of depression suddenly, for no apparent reason, or after a life-changing event or medical illness. Some types of depression run in families, suggesting that a biological vulnerability can be inherited.
As with any medical condition, depression should be treated by a health care professional. The first step toward relieving depression symptoms is to speak with your doctor as soon as possible. By seeing your doctor at the first sign of depression symptoms, you increase your chances of getting over these symptoms and keeping them from returning. Even if you've sought treatment for depression in the past, it is not uncommon for symptoms to return and interfere with your life again. Whenever you start to notice depression symptoms, don't wait to talk with your doctor.

Sweetie, you were doing so good this morning. Did you take your meds this afternoon? I think a good nap is in order.

On my opinion, first you should see a doctor regarding what you are feeling at the moment and maybe the doctor would recommend a moment of relaxation or give you medicine on whatever it is that you are suffering from. The Doctor will then have to decide whether you should be admitted to the hospital or a few medicines would be enough. Anyway, I strongly suggest that you go and see a Doctor first before you make any sudden decision. They would know better. Hope this helps.

You should first open the bible to whatever page it lands on. Know that you are God's child and that he loves you and will guide you if you just ask. God is not the author of depression. Remember that we can only do what we can do when we can do it. You can only control what you control, what you can't let it go. If you don't you will be in this position often. Life's a constant challenge and it's how you deal with those challenges that make you persevere. You have to be strong. It's a must. Talk to your parents or someone who will talk to you level-headed. Only admit yourself if you are having suicidal thoughts. Being medicated has it's own share of problems. Pray and join a church home and participate actively in the ministries of that church. You are blessed and greatly loved.

If your suicidal-GO.. If not, reach out to anyone and everyone close to you for a shoulder to cry on and to talk to. If you have no one close enough than find a support group in your area. Your Dr should be able to give you something to help you. Everyone needs someone to talk to, even if it's a psychiatrist. You are not alone. I'm battling depression right now as well> GOOD LUCK!!!

No, I wouldn't yet, but you should go see a therapist or social worker to help you with your problems. A professional opinion never hurts.
This link will help find one near you.

Nobody will admit you for being "very depressed and crying".
Go to a regular doctor first or find one those help line and call.
To be admitted you have to be officially diagnosed with something by a health professional, you can't self-diagnose yourself and demand to be admitted.
whatever is making you crye and be depressed won't be around forever. There is nothing you can't overcome on this earth. Be strong. seek help by talking to professionals.
Good luck. Wish you the best.

only go to the hospital if you feel like you are going to kill yourself or someone else. otherwise, the best place to recover is at home.
lizzie555
No, first you should talk to somebody who's close to you. Find out what causing it, usually teens always feel that way, if you're not, you gotta talk to somebody who really knows you and who you can trust to help you with your situation.
CoolDude
I don't know if you need to be admitted to the hospital, but you definitely should call your doctor for advice. You'd need to be evaluated by a doctor before a hospital would admit you anyway.
What's wrong, anyway, dear one? Sometimes it helps just to say what's on your mind.
Tiffany
I would call your primary care physician - he/she should be able to get you in right away.

Are you suicidal? If you are, call 911 or get to the ER right away!!
If you aren't, call around for a mental health specialist (therapist) that you can sit with on a regular basis. S/he will help you out in your times of need, and also help you in general life.
chellelee28
I think I would call up a friend and talk to them. It could help. If you try that, and you still feel depressed, with any suicidal tendencies, then admit yourself to the hospital, that way someone can take care of you.
Just_gone
