July 22, 2010 I broke my ankle. Basically he wrote non displaced oblique fracture of the lateral malleolus just distal to the plafond. I guess the short end of the fibula. It did hurt really bad. I went to the E.R. that day and they put me in a splint then it took 12 days to get into the Orthopedic. There they put a short leg cast on me. Last Friday (basically 5 weeks since my accident) they took me out of the cast because of a bulge. The ankle wrapping had fallen and cause an indention in the side of my leg. (Ouch). He said my x-ray showed healing and wanted to put me in a stir-up. My O.S never really explains anything to me and he ddidn'ttell me how much pain I would be in since I have been allowed to weight bear with crutches. I am just not sure if I am using my crutches correctly. Now that I have put some weight on my foot tthere'sno way I could go back to no weight bearing. I have classes twice a week from 9:30 am till 9p at night. (its my last semester of college). It hurts so bad when I get home and my foot is so swollen. I do periodically prompt my leg up during my breaks at school. I have read that the pain is from muscles that haven't been used. Also I read soaking in epson salt is good too. Anything thing else would help. I am suppose to be in this stir-up for 2 1/2 more weeks. Then I have another check up and I am not sure what will happen there. He never explains a plan to me. I've heard some ppl having to go to PT. Also I asked when I could start working out cause I was on a wweight lossprogram before this happen. He did say I could use the eexercisebike but I am scared. Sorry I do not know why there are so many typos in this paragraph. I did spell check. Also the stir-up that I am wearing kinda reminds me of a wrap. Thats what the doctor called it. I wear it during the day over a tube sock. It does have velcro so I can loosen it.
