I've had good luck using a chiropractor. If it's a repeat problem you may want to try an inversion table. I got one at a garage sale for a song and it works great on the problems I had with pinched nerves in my shoulder and neck. Those foam yoga rolls and half rolls work good to relax spine areas also, and they are cheap and don't take up much space.
Don't forget to drink more water. Vitamins and suppliments may help if this is a chronic thing.

See a neurologist. If you've already seen one to obtain that diagnosis, call and ask what specific steps to take. If you're not comfortable with her/him, find another neuro. You pay good money and deserve good answers. I wouldn't take it to a chiropractor until you've finished up with the MDs.

i have a pinched nerve too, just found out, not sure but i think you have to go to therapy, at least I'm hoping that's all there is to it, i should find out this afternoon, good luck to you!

Often this is a condition that will resolve itself over time.
If not,go to a physiotherapist or chiropractor .
In extreme and stubborn cases surgery to free the nerve is the only answer-as a last resort
Liza
See a physical therapist.
Sally
Pinch it back.
Cherrie
Advil/Ibuproefen to reduce swelling around the nerve
Ice or heat - whichever makes you feel better
Easy stretches

A pinched nerve, if that is what you have, is a mechanical problem. It requires a mechanical solution. A drug, like an anti-inflamatory or pain killer, goes into your body and won't know where to go so it will just do its thing everywhere. Go see a chiropractor. They move the spinal column in order to reduce the pinching of the nerves directly. Also they will help you find out why you got a pinched nerve in the first place and hopefully will help you understand how not to get another one.
On a side note: williemae4, you said "I wouldn't take it to a chiropractor until you've finished up with the MDs."
So you think that chiropractic is a last resort when the MDs can't do anything, right? Well then since chiropractic has the lowest incidents of side effects and by your own admission works when the other's don't, wouldn't it just make more sense to see a chiropractor from the beginning?
