I fractured my wrist and I went to the docter and he said i only need a really strong brace with those removeble things is this right and should I go see a different doctor
I had a hair line break in my left wrist once in jr highschool and expected a cast but I was just given one of those removeable braces. I had to wear it for like 8wks though. So I guess it depends on the break & doctor.
If you are really concerned though go see another doctor.

if the break is stable, meaning in place but still fractured, there is no need for surgery or casting, a brace will do it. you could go to another doctor if you want. but the likelyhood of a different outcome is slim.

Your doctor went to med school and probably has a background in kinesiology and anatomy. He's not retarded. My guess is you only want a hard plaster cast because you're a pity-mongering attention-wh*re but you don't need it.

doctors go to school for years and years to learn these things. Diagnosing a broken bone is not rocket science to them. You won't get a different opinion elsewhere

Doctors are not stupid. If something comes across that they are not too sure about they will seek a fellow doctor. First of all... I would be grateful that he would rather me be in a brace than a cast. a cast would stuck. It will be itchy and uncomfortable and heavy. the arm could atrophy underneath I would rather have a brace that is removable anyday. Are you looking for attention? Really? Why are you so hung up on getting a cast? If you are that desperate for a cast go to an art supply store and purchase some plaster rolls and dip em in water and cast away.
