i been sick for about 3 three weeks now. coughing, stuffy nose. the seasonal cold/flu.
coughing is a my major problem. its unstoppable . and yesterday night i coughed out blood. however, the morning after the first coughed came out is also blood, then its went back to my dry coughing again.
i googled of coughing blood. its say i have a high risk of lung cancer, but i do not smoke. and i am still young. 22 years of age.
anyhow, can anyone give me a credible answer that can help me. I am one of the 47 million American who does not have health insurance |

not to scare the he-be-geebies out of you, but TB is very prevalent, unstoppable, actually, here in the U.S. Not enough news coverage.
The signs and symptoms of TB are:
#1) COUGHING UP BLOOD
2) cough that lasts for more than 3 weeks
3) night sweats
4) eventual weight loss
the reason i answer questions here is my total dismay of the healthcare system in this united states. inability to pay for coverage - outrageous premiums - and the many many americans that suffer at home. i am a registered nurse and can probably afford it, but am determined to not buy into the system.
i had a contract job recently at ELI LILLY the major pharmaceutical company and their employee came into the employee health department (where i worked). she had a real horror story. lilly had contracted their cleaning-crew. from mexico. she was in the closed office every night when then cleaned the office. she went 9 months undiagnosed and finally found that she had TB. as a result of this episode, Lilly no longer will have mexicans employed as contract cleaning people!
BOTTOM LINE: COUGHING UP BLOODY SPUTUM IS MORE LIKELY TB THAN IT IS LUNG CANCER. Go to your nearest clinic. they will test you for TB without charge because this is a community health disease. actually, if you are found positive for TB, you WILL BE TREATED FOR FREE. |

Please use Google to try to find a free clinic in your area. Many medical schools also set up free clinics to help people without insurance. They don't ask many questions and respect whatever situation you're in. There are several different things that could be going on - go to a website like wedmd.com and use the "Symptom Checker." If you have any chest pain, you need to go to the Emergency Room, where they will treat you regardless of your ability to pay. Good luck! |

Three weeks of coughing and coughing up blood? I think you need to get checked ASAP. You could have Pneumonia. Call the doctor, NOW. There are free health clinics somewhere and many hospitals have programs to help pay the bills. If you get sicker, the bills will get larger, think of that. |
