After! Before is dangerous. When exercising, energy is routing from unessential places, like the digestive tract, to your heart, lungs, brain and muscles. That food won't get digested properly. And you might make yourself vomit. |

Afterwards; then your metabolism is strong and your heart is pumping so it immediately burns off your breakfast instead of converting it to fat. |

After. I eat a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts before the workout (as I don't like exercising on an empty stomach), and then I eat the main meal when I return home. |

before, because breakfast is the most important thing in the day it gives energy, and one needs energy in order to exercise also, if you eat after exercise you are just bringing back the fat you worked off, so there would be no point in exercising. |

Your metabolish is running fast after doing weight training, so eat after. I've always heard it's best to do cardio on an empty stomach so you can burn more fat. Some say to eat a little something (protein) if you're doing strictly weight training, but I do both cardio and weights, so I try to eat after I work out. Happy exercising! |

Well, I exercise before I eat breakfast the last couple of days. The reason I did this is that I found out that if you exercise before you eat then your gonna only burn fat because your stomach is still empty.
I found this info on the internet..but I forgot the site..sorry =/ |

I don't eat breakfast but I suppose before would be better as then you could burn it off after you've eaten. |

This link answers that question pretty well. I work out in the morning, shower and then eat right away. I have heard that is good, but this article says that I am just running on "fumes."
I guess there are drawbacks of both ways.

I do a little bit of both because it is good to go into the gym with energy and food in your stomach and then your body always needs food to help recover from the work out after. What I recommend is either a protein shake or a meal replacement bar with a glass of water before the work out in the morning and then after have some oatmeal with some fruit. I pick oatmeal because it is easy to fix at work and a good source of protein and fiber. I also take a multi-vitamin with the oatmeal (nutri-lite Double X..I love that stuff.) I recommend Trim advantage Meal replacement bar, and XS protein which packs 50grams of protein in a shake. Nutri-lite also provides Double X (Multi Vit) on the same web page.

This bar gives you 17 grams of protein and only 31 carbs and 230 calories which provides you with the right mix for energy and a great work out. |

no, you should eat after so that when you work out you burn the calories that are already in your tissue, like pure fat rather than the calories from the food you just ate. also, it is much better to eat after working out because your metabolism is faster at that point and therefore your body will continue to quickly burn the calories that you have just injested. |
