Sould i be worried about a cat bite on the arm?
i got 3 punctures on the top of my wrist 2 days ago from my cat, i went to the doctor today becuase i had a hot,ache,cramp like pain from my wrist to my elbow and the areas around the marks was swollen The doctor didn't look at the arm at all but gave me an amox/clav duo antibiotic to take for 10 days. I couldnt take the anti's till my next meal and before then i noticed 2 slight wavering red lines running from the red circle around one of the bites towards the top of my hand, they have gone now but i am in a lot of pain all up my arm. I have taken 2 ibruprofen already (no change in the pain) should i still be worried?
You might get rabies or something else from a cat bite. While signs of infection around the puncture wound iis a good indicator of problems, it is best to play it safe and go to the doctor and get an anti-rabies shot.

Has this cat had any shots lately or visited the vet? As well as seeing a doctor for yourself, I think it would be safe to get your cat checked out as well. If the wounds are still open, put some antibiotic ointment on it and wrap it up. Keep a close eye on it and make sure the doctor checks it out.

Yes, cats can carry up to 5 diseases which can be transferred to humans. I would call the Dr.'s office and tell them your symptoms. It is encouraging that the red lines have gone.

The doctor has given you the appropriate medicine and just keep taking it. Cats have bacteria in their mouth that can cause infection in you skin and soft tissues, but when treated appropriately the bacteria are easily eradicated. The pain you describe is not abnormal and you can take ibuprofen every 4-6 hours.
