I'm sorry to say that I don't really understand cutting, but please don't cut yourself. Momentary relive for long term pain does not seem like a fair trade. Instead, try writing in a journey or diary, write some poetry, read up on your favorite point of interest and stimulate your mind to think about other things, go out and help someone, go to the gym, or take a nice long soothing bath.

best thing to do is find a living person to spend time with until the feeling passes, make yourself stay with them until you feel stable and can cope a little better.
If you cannot do this, try writing or drawing or making newspaper cut outs of all the words you can relate to, basicly, use the feeling and do something with it- ie communicate it, this not only gives you hope that oneday you can talk through and work though your emotions at a later date with someone who can help, but it also lets you create a distance from your feeling. Destraction can sometimes be a good way out but in the longer term you need to work on what happens, why it happens and how you can prevent or atleast cope with it if it returns.
Plan your recovery, plan who you will see; your doctor who will refer you, a specialist or mental health worker who will help you and support networks you can join and get help from. (check your council for places like mind and the sammritans who often have centres you can drop into). Plan the appointments, what you want to say, how you will say it, what you want from the supporting professionals.
You can do it, you do have the capability and nothing bad will happen if you choose not to self harm. Infact it brings you that much closer to the real underlying issues whihc then mean you can work on them sooner and recover from S/H sooner.

Have you tried thinking of all the people you know, and how they deal with stress and worry. Think about the times you have seen or spoken to them, and ask yourself what they do in that situation. Then try thinking about famous people, and what you know about them. Ok, they may not all do it sensibly, but it will give you something to think about, and you may even find a solution
...
So stop thinking! I know that isnt as easy as it sounds, but Ive been practicing for a few years now. it helps to think "hmm, what is my next thought going to be?"
I found that the question brings silence to my mind for a good few seconds. And then next time you try to hold it for longer. Or get a book on meditation. Remember that you have to feel your feelings, even the bad ones so that you can process them and let go of them.

Listen to your favourite song.......a happy one!!!! and please dont cut yourslef !!! think about happy things and memories. If you continue to feel low and stressed then go and see your doctor or a councellor....they wil help you. x

Register with the National Self Harm Network website. They have forums you can post to for help and advice plus a couple of general forums you can read/post to in order to take your mind off things. I've joined so I can recommend it.

hiya, im feeling the same way as you have done for along time the thing that keeps my mind of it is a jigsaw puzzle as i concentrate so much on it and takes my mind off what im feeling for a bit even if its just 2 minutes at least its that, to those who have answered this question sarcasticly try standing in a depressed person shoes for 24 hrs and see what its like not as easy as you all think.
