You're supposed to get a new prescription every year, and that means getting an exam. You can't buy contacts or glasse without a current prescription. It varies but it's generally about $80-100 for an exam, plus your new contacts or glasses (if needed). If you don't think your eyesight has changed you can always get new contacts/glasses before your prescription expires, thus temporarily avoiding the cost. It's always good to just get the exam though, because your vision can change so subtly that you don't notice it and they check out the health of your eyes as well.

In India, the consultation vary anything from around 50 to 500 INR. The fee for the lense becomes extra.
More luxurious the consultation room is, the more will be the charges...
