My boyfriend hated it, every second. He would get sick just thinking about having to go. He would do it again, I know he would. He had 6 treatments, every three weeks of CHOP-R.
How you react depends on the drug combination and how you treat your body.

Cancer patients find it difficult to manage the adverse effects of chemotherapy. Please see the web pages for more details on chemotherapy.

My son seems to breeze through chemotherapy. He does get nauseous, but takes plenty of meds to control it. He has been through 9 cycles of high dose chemotherapy which worked very well for him. He has also been in remission while on 8 cycles of a low dose chemo. Again, anti-nausea meds such as zophran, ativan, kytril, and benedryl controlled his side effects.
We are currently considering stem cell rescue in hopes of destroying all cancer cells (he still has a few tiny nodules on the dome of the liver).

I had chemo last year and am due for another 3 cycles very soon. I am dreading it but it is to prolong my life, so I suppose I'll do almost anything. Its not pleasant especially the tiredness and sickness, but when you are in a position where it is your only lifeline - you'll grab it with both hands.
Wishing anyone on chemo the very very best.
