of a 70 year old smoker (smoking since he was 9 years old) that has had 2 skin surgeries from melenoma. (cancer of the skin) and has thought that he has had it for 5 1/2 years? He is still up and walking, working and has COPD. But is slowing down quite a lot in the last year.
74 and a half is the average life expectancy and that is not including cancer into the equation. No one can really say its hard to put a number on life say your prayers and you'll see.

I was kinda hoping that you were going to say "former" smoker with that COPD.( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). STOP SMOKING and your chances for surviving this are much greater. COPD is a miserable disease and can really make things awful if you don't take precautions NOW. Good luck to you it's a tough job but you can do it...at least cut down.

Hm. No one could really give an exact answer but I would say about 72-75. Much longer if he would just stop smoking im sure.

Skin camcer caught early is curable and probably not linked to smoking. More to sun.If they get all the cancer and it does not spread to any organs he should be fine. The copd is what is slowing him down and that is caused by the smoking at least in part.I can not see the cancer being what gets him as long as it is under control and he goes in for regular check ups.
