I love the idea of braces, I need some and yes, in the end those with braces will have better looking teeth than those who don't have them. I don't see the whole geeky thing about them, I mean they are necessary in order to adjust teeth and keep them in place. I especially love how some people who wear braces can get the little bands in different colors every month. My sister would change them based on the holidays coming up. I think they're awesome. |

theres nothing wrong with them, and i don't think they're ulgy or geeky, you shouldn't be paranoid and on most people they look really good and you can't notice them. |

honestly, on guys (i am a girl), somehow it looks better. like idk with some guys braces just like light up their smile. its so cute! i dont think the braces make anyone look geeky, its just that if ur a geek then ppl notice ur braces alot more and they dont really look cute like i said above.
a/w thats like with me when i got my contacts. i've had glasses since kindergarten and over the summer i got contacts. i was sooo paranoid but no one even noticed! actually when i DO wear my glasses ppl are like "when did u get glasses?" and im like "i wore them every day last yr!"
either ppl dont notice ur braces or they make u look cute. unless ur already a geek, but then braces arent ur problem. lol. the guy i like had braces last yr and this yr he got them off and i was so sad cuz when he smiled its like they lit up his face!!!!! (of course i havent told him that) |

I think you are lucky to get braces, because I'm one of the people in the world who needed braces as I was growing up, but my family couldn't afford it. My teeth aren't horrible, it was just to fix my cross bite. You can't tell, but I needed it.
So you need to be thankful that your parents were able to get them for you and just deal with it. |

Uhhmm..'too bad you cant chew gum x)' yeah your right it in the end you do have better teeth, had to wear it in middle school now Im good.
Just dont choose any color ones lol, on my second year of braces I realized that plain gray was better and less flashy and announcing then multi colors or some neons..and brush harder for those food stains. |

I think that that person is going to have a beautiful smile with straight teeth, and I wish my parents would have gotten braces for me when I was younger, because braces as an adult is even worse than when your young. |

I really wouldn't think anything about it, I dated a guy in high school with braces and he was still cute and there were no kissing issues or anything like that. I had braces on for 4 years, and I hated them! That being said, most of the time I forgot about them and they didn't interfere with my social life at all. |

yea i think you're exactly right. People with braces don't like automatically strike me as a nerd. They look so common, and they are not nerdy...i've had them. =]. So if you are paranoid about eating or something, just go to the bathroom after you eat and check your teeth...and be careful when you eat.

My daughter has braces (her choice.....cost me a fortune) but she is regarded as a definitely cool kid. That's cos of who she is, nothing to do with braces.
So my answer is, just be you. If they are your friends it doesn't matter. And you will have the nicer smile in a year or twos time. |

i always wanted to know what it's like to chew gum with braces
and i also thank god that i dont have to have braces, cause i heard it hurts a lot when they get put on and taken off :( |

im 16...i got my braces off a few years ago. i know whats its like to be paranoid about them, but alot of people have them now so its not really a big deal anymore...its quite commen...
i think when i see people that have them"wow i remember those days" and i also think about how happy they will be when they get them off and see how wonderful of a smile they have. |

As long as you keep them really clean, and AVOID colors like yellow or orange bands, they do not look bad at all. You will really appreciate having had them later.
They really are not a big deal at all appearance wise. |

A LOT of teenagers wear braces, i just think, oh he has braces, they will be off in a little bit so it doesnt really matter, and he'll have perfect teeth than, no big deal, my bf has braces and it doesn't bother me at all, they don't take away from his cuteness :D |

I feel for those who have to go through that. I had the same braces for four years. I get a lot of compliments on my smile and my earaches have stopped so I am very happy to have worn them.
The teenagers who need them but don't get them disgust me a bit. (yes, I know that is unfair because they are so expensive but it is true.) |

I have braces too. No one notices them. Some people who I have known for awhile are like, "You have braces?!" I don't know why... them being clear probably helps. But, no, it's not geeky or ugly - there are MANY people who have them! It's just the process of a beautiful smile! :) |
