How do you fix a broken knee?
I am a female in my mid 20's. I initially ruptured my ACL and tore both menisci 6 years ago playing basketball. Currently, after 3 knee surgeries to attempt to repair the various problems associated with it, it seems that I have finally come to the end of the line with all of the things I can do. So what do I do now? That is my question. I have looked into getting it replaced, but the doctors have told me that I am too young. I am also overweight, however, due to the limited functionality of my knee, exercise has become an issue. I used to be a very active athlete and now I have been religated to only walking. ANY suggestions about knee injury, weight loss with a dissability, or exercises that don't require running or that aren't completely borring would be appreciated.
You really have to do something for yourself. Knees are extremely important!!
Start swimming, its a great way to lose weight and build muscle in the legs. However do not do breast stroke as it causes you to turn the knee.
Create new eating habits, eating, drinking and sleeping right will definitely help your body, also look in to buying good quality vitamins.
And lastly, it wouldn't hurt to see a physio, who can give you exercises and help your knee recover.
Good luck

You need to get into a good eating habit - healthier foods, smaller portions and lose some pounds. Exercises that you can do are any that don't require too much stress on your knee. Water arobics are very good as the water takes the stress off the knee and you can get a good workout. Some of the dance moves are good - the ones that don't require bending your knees like we did back in the 60's and 70's - and they help to tone your muscles while you enjoy the good music.

Do therapy. Let someone with a degree help you with that. Find a good doc too. someone who knows what their doing.

certain topic should only be left to specialists and this is one of them. you should only take advice from a doc or you could put your knee in further jeopardy.

Aqua therapy will help with weight loss without hurting the knee. Once you are just plump and not too overweight then you can see if you still need surgery.
My mom lost 75 pounds and her knees are much better now. She had a bad fall a few years ago and had been getting injections in her knees.
Doctors are humans, so make sure you see three or four or more and then go with the one you think can help you the best.
