My toenail is basically dead and will most likely have to be removed (its my big toe)
Can I still play soccer if It is removed?
What is the general recovery time?
I will need to say 3-5 weeks, you could still play soccer but it won't be a good idea if you use full strengh to kick it.

ask your doctor. if it has to go it has to go. I had one taken off and it was sensitive for a few days then all better

happened to me and it fell off then grew back id say a month later i didnt even notice. it didnt hurt that bad but @ first it was tender when i put my cleats on. just put gauze and a bandaid to cushion it.

You can still play but I would wrap it good. Recovery time will vary I would say about a month

I think after removing it you will need to talk to the Doctor. It is better to get the Doctor's opinion. We are the layman in this matter. If you are professional soccer player, then you definitely having a Doctor for your team. Better ask him or her.

Depends. Sometimes the toe will hurt when touched. In that case just wrap some soft padding of some sort around it. If it hurts with padding, shoe/cleat on, and when you kick or whatever then I wouldn't suggest playing. My football coaches have always been really cautious as far as injuries of any sort go and will let us play with broken bones (minor ones) and whatnot if the cover it up.
As far as recovery rate (which I assume you're asking how long it'll take your toenail to grow back). It takes just as long as any other toenail takes to grow.
It really shouldn't keep you from playing. Unless, it hurts you in some way. I've played football with broken bones, jammed joints, bruises, cuts, scrapes, etc. Its doable.

first of all how did you hurt your toenail??? recovery time will vary from person to person but ill say a couple of weeks to a month i played soccer barefooted and broke my toenails many times before i started college soccer it hurts like a ***** but it always heals up. this should not affect how play the sport as long as you let it heal good your not playing barefooted are you??? see you in the paper next to my name
