if it hurts that bad i wouldnt do anything till it stops. did you stretch first? always warm up and stretch before you do stuff like that. im not really sure why it would hurt that much but id take it easy for a while.

but wait a day before you exercise again, give your muscles a chance to heal.

You should make sure you get enough potassium.
Eat bananas, and/or drink grape juice.
This really helps.
And really warm baths.

Drink plenty of water to hydrate your muscles before working out, and continue to drink more water after. Protein is important for rebuilding the muscles after exercise. And never get into a hot tub after a hard workout, the heat will cause your muscles to swell and become even more sore.

Yes definitely wait!! You could just injure yourself if you 'push it' too much. My boyfriend works out really hard but never works out 2 days in a row, it is healthy to leave a day inbetween so your muscles can rest and rejeuvenate. Also - drink some protein shakes, the protein helps your muscles after a workout. And ofcourse, take some Ibuprofen or aspirin to take the edge off.

Skip tonight. Go again tomorrow and do a little less than you did the first time. Plenty of fluids and a banana or two along with some Ibuprofen.

Potassium water or bananas are fine, but the simple answer is you have overdone it. You have caused some damage to your muscles and that is because you overworked them by a large amount. A much more sensible strategy is to overload your muscles a little more each week so that they adapt and get stronger.
Take it easier. This is incapacitating you so you cannot work out. DONT do more damage tonight. Allow them to recover. A bit of moderation is needed!!!

Aching a couple of days after intensive exercise is a very common thing, don’t worry! Your muscles ache because you have put them under ‘stresses’ they are not used to and so they need a little time to recuperate. Just rest a few days and drink plenty of fluid and you’ll be fine.
Next time at the gym try not to work yourself too hard and each time you exercise your body will get stronger and your tolerance levels will increase.
