It depends on if you exercise or not. If you do around 1600-1800. and if you dont around 1300-1500. You need 3 different kinds of calories to make up this total number. Preferably, you want 45% of the calories to be from fat, 25% from carbs, and 20% from protein. The nutriution labal normally tells you how many are from fat. As long as you keep the cals from fat under 50% and stick to the totals above you should lose weight. |

That depends on your age, height, weight and muscle mass. The more muscle mass, the more you can eat without gaining weight.
A sure way is to cut back on 500 calories a day from what you normally consume. If you do this, you will cause a steady loss of about 1.5 lbs a week, which is the ideal weight loss rate.
And if you burn an extra 500 by increasing your activities, you will safely lose about 3 a week. |

you just need to excercise more than you eat meaning loose more than you consume |

You have to come up with some type of a reward system, this will help keep you motivated. One of the best things to do is make a contingency contract. Stating what you want to do, who will help you do it, and what do you get for doing it.
Then also try to find a well balance diet program. My friend did this one diet program where the average weight lose is 7 pounds in 9 days. It might be the thing you are looking for, I know it's well balanced. If you want e-mail me and I can tell you more about either of these. |

There is no "one true" answer for this question. It all depends on how much exercise you are getting, and how much you already weigh... |

Whether you are a woman or a man, the trick to losing weight is to eat less calories than you burn. That's it! It's that simple. You might want to calculate how much calories you burn in a day.
Believe it or not, your body naturally burns some calories all by itself with no excercise.
Visit this link to find out how many calories your body burns naturally: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/
After you find that out, click here to find out exactly how much calories a day you should be eating: http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blcalcalc.htm
The next step in losing weight is to excercise.
This link will take help you determine calories burned from excercises: http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/tl/misc/caloriesburned.jsp
What you will wanna do, is calculate how much calories you get in a day . Then, excercise and calculate the number of calories burned, subtract this number from the calories gotten from the food you ate throughout the day.
It's confusing at first, but you'll get the idea. |

1200 at the least and 1600 at the most but also watch your carbs like 20-30 a meal. drink plenty of water not soft drinks before you start to eat and you wont be near as hungry and wont consume as much. good luck. |

Less then what they burn.
So if your calorie intake is high, then you want to burn more of those calories that day to even it out. :) |

To many women think that there is one general answer to a question like this. Weight loss all depends on ur lifestyle. What u do for a living, your favorite foods, how many children you have, what you do in your free time, what time you wake up/go to bed. See a personal trainer, if not to train with them then just to make a meal and workout plan. Also its not just about what you do or do not eat, its about how motivated you are about getting out and being active!! You could eat as much salad as you want but if ur to lazy to go for a walk, bike or swim, good luck losing the weight. |

1500 calories per day combined with aerobic exercise for no less than 20 minutes three times a week. As you reduce your calorie intake your body's defence mechanism will slow down your metabolic rate to off set the reduction in food. This can be countered by raising your metabolism by the aforementioned method of training. |

it totally depends on your age and weight and etc. but
normal range is about 1400-1800
1400 being the total MINIMUM, do NOT go below that because then you are plunging yourself into the "starvation zone" |

A simple formula is to multiply your current weight by 10, ie: 230lbs X 10 = 23000 calories. Now this is the amount of calories to MAINTAIN your current weight. So to loose weight you need to go below this. You will need to get down to around1200 calorie to maintain a slim figure. This person could do it as fast or as slow as they wanted, but just doing it will cause weight loss. Now the 1200 calories will vary by a few hundred depending on height and activity level. But this is a general guidline. |

it really depends on your height and weight.
If you weigh 300 lbs you'd probably need to eat 2500 then adjust as you lose weight, but if you are like 150 you should eat 1200 calories.
Think of it this way, for every 10 lbs you weigh you need to eat 100 calories. To lose weight eat 75-80% of those calories plus lots of water and exercise.
So if you weight 150, eat 1200 calories a day. |

Completely depends on her level of activity, age, starting weight and metabolism. Many diets suggest 1200-1400 is a good place to start. Combined with excersise, if you don't lose any weight at that level, you can drop it a bit more, but going too much lower can lower your metabolism and defeat the whole purpose of dieting. I actually shoot for anything between 900-1200 and call it a good day, as long as I'm getting the right amount of protien in. |

Well, an average calorie diet has 2,000 calories, and you are a woman, so I would think that in order to be on a diet, you should eat 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day. |

That depends on several factors. Your current weight, your age, and your activity level are all factors in that. You need to speak to your doctor and/or nutritionist to determine that. On average, it's about 1200-1400 calories per day for a woman with lower activity, and about 1500-1700 per day for a woman who is very active. |
