I walk to work pretty much every day. i'ts about half hour each way. For me, it means not paying for transport, getting excersize without paying for classes or the gym and listening to my mp3 player, and best of all being on my own. i work in a huge open plan office with loadsa peole and i need that hour everyday for my 'space'. |

Good for you, Its only lazy people who are amazed when people walk by choice.
I'm guilty of it myself and often feel sorry when someone 'has' to walk anywhere. I have to remind myself that they're fitter, will probably live longer & are contributing to the environment more than me ( when I drive my car to the corner shop!) |

When I lived in Camden Town I walked to work at the zoo along Regent's Canal for four years. It was the best commute I've ever had. If only everyone was so lucky! Now I drive and the only advantage is listening to CDs without headphones... |

Good for you, I wish I could walk to work, not exactly practical as I live 30 miles away from work. I have no idea why people would find it strange, its the healthy option for you and the environment |

No, but I definitely would if I didn't work 20 miles away! |

Hey, what is strange about a stroll! ? I too walk to work and even in the wind, the rain or the snow I would not change it! It is a good way of having some time to myself and thinking stuff through... like what I need to do when I get there and also on my way home it is a way of 'unwinding' so I leave any work 'stuff' / 'issues' behind me. The bonus is it keeps me fit and trim! Keep on walking! |

I used to live 3 miles from work & occasionally walked home. Good going if you live near enough. I now live 15 miles from work and it takes me just over an hour on the train! |

The people who find it strange - are they obese per chance!
Nothing strange about it - more people should have your motivation.
Im planning on running to work when I get a job near to where I live - means I can fit my exercise into the day and still have time left over.
The fact that you walk to work every day means that you'l be a hell of a lot healthier and fitter than most around you, and you'l ultimately live longer - unless you get hit by a car whilst walking to work - only jokin - though remember to watch out for those fatties who drive to work! :) |

I do. I walk or cycle to almost everywhere I go.
Your walking (at any age) is not only sensible health wise, but you yourself know it is also relaxing. Plus, you contribute to a cleaner environment! You are, by walking, on the cutting edge of modern ecological fad. Good for you.
More than strange, it is a example. Forget what some idiot (s) might think, they are probably incapable of doing what you do and a either jealous or plain morons.
Keep on walking, you are on the right track. |

In busy daily schedule no one has enough time to go for exercise.
Walking is good exercise. it more close to rule of nature. most of people don't want work but they work-out to keep them fit. |

I am 23 and havent bothered to learn how to drive yet because I am afraid I will get lazy. Walking to work is great excercise and most of the time I enjoy it. Sometimes arriving at work soaking wet is not the best but it is worth it.
Its a lot less stressful than driving too. Most of the time I walk in pretty relaxed while others are moaning about queues/road rage etc. |

For me there is nothing wrong with it. In fact it is good for your health , in environment & economy. Yes there are lots of people who likes walking going to their work, offices others use bike everyday some others use roller skate. So continue with it. |

I walk to work ... but then I only live 200 metres away so it wouldn't make much sense to start the car. I think it's great though, keep walking !!! |

Its very odd that you should find people who think it is odd for you to perform this every day healthy option. I gather in USA however it is not unusual for people to drive to their next door neighbours.
If a few more people developed your 'odd' habit there might be a bit less heart disease! |

well I don't walk to work, because I still don't have one.
but I walk to School which is 3miles from home
when I walk some of my classmates who pass by me with a car probably think that I don't have money to ride a public transport. ^_^ |

I am also 33 and would love to have the chance to walk to work, unfortunately I work 25 miles away from were I live, but you are not weird for walking to work I bet it is nice to have fresh air and a healthy stroll instead off car fumes and road rage. |

you're 33.....you made it sound like you were 133!!!! Walking is great exercise, if I could walk to work I would, I usually walk for around 3 hours a day in total, which is not enough but as I am a receptionist it is pretty hard to find an excuse to leave my desk!! |

Fair play to you, what a great way of getting your daily exercise. If I worked close enough to home I would. I used to work (stay at home mum now) but it was half hour bus ride and I didn't finish until 6 everyday and would not have got home until stupid time. I did live near to work many years ago and did walk to and from every day in the summer, but my husband picked me up in the winter as it wasn't a nice area. |

my round trip to work is 120 miles, no walking for me!
i used to walk to work and found it to be very relaxing. i envy you greatly |

I use to, and I loved it also. I don't think it's strange, if you're close enough, why not walk? Anyone who thinks it's weird is most likely jealous!
I no longer have that job and now spend 40 minutes a day driving to get to work...sigh. |

My office is 15 minutes away from my apartment by walk. So i go to work and come back home everyday by walk.. And i think it's great.. I walk on my own and listen my i-pod on the way... I feel wonderful and independent... Coz i don't have to wait for a bus, i dont have to get in to the traffic... I think walking is not strange... It's also kind of working out... |

Good for you. You're going to be less likely to have a heart attack at 50 or something, and then you can laugh at your friends/coworkers. |

I would if I could, but work is almost 20 miles away. I walk other places around town when the weather is cooperating. |
