to get attention. I usually advise them on good ways of going about it just to feel like I might have had a role to play in thier death. |

Some people are sad. It is not crazy. It is called depression and people who want to do this are in pain. You should try to understand that not everyone feels well and there are sad and lonley people in the world. Some have terrible lives and anxiety. I don't mean all of them who write here are like this but some people really are not well and they need strong people like you and me to help them and to be kind to them.

A better question would be, how do you respond. For example, if you provide an answer, are you bad for you helping them? Or are you good, since you want to help them ease their pain quickly and painlessly?
Whatever answer you provide, the question is asked to solicit attention. |

It wouldn't be 'crazy to you' if it 'were you'. It could be that they're just getting attention, but they could be really reaching out for help. Because we have no way of knowing where the person is coming from, we need to take it seriously. a life is worth it. Just be thankful you don't feel so low that you'd have to seek out help on the Internet. |

They have no one to talk to probably and they only have the courage to talk about it online to strangers. |

It's anonymous here. It's easier than asking someone who knows you. (ie, real life). |

Because they want attention. Some of these people are bi polar so their moods go up and down. One girl told the chatroom she was going to commit suicide on cam and invited everyone to see. She was suffering a meltdown because people picking on her in the room. I think she needed to get off the chatroom and get some real friends. Some people think the only people who care are total strangers on the net. Same with the perverted questions and the "racist" questions they are all attention seekers. IF you answer them they get off on that. |

I don't know. Why do you ask questions about suicide? Interested? |

I think they are just trying on the idea for the drama of it. Let me say, however, that I have an especially sensitive response to these questions, because My Steve, the light of my life for over 20 years, committed suicide last December 16th. And don't believe the old stories that people who talk about it never do it. He did talk about it, and I did try to point out to him that it was not a good idea, in a variety of ways. I told him how badly it would impact on my life, and how he would be negating everything he ever taught me (possibly an exaggeration, but I was upset), because it would turn out to have been taught me by someone who was a quitter. I also pointed out that he was depressed about things that were mostly temporary problems. Unfortunately, that only highlighted the ones that were not temporary. He said things like "I have always believed I was destined to destroy myself," and "I feel I have no future."
What could I have said? I go over it and over it in my mind, and that's part of what is so unfair about the whole thing. Yes, I have forgiven him, but it still hurts a whole lot. |

Just go **** off. but anyways just because most people on here doesn't go through what we go through doesn't mean we are any less of a person then you are ok? And yes many do say its just a cry for attention but i have been told that and its NOT true. i needed and still need help getting through times but its just that we have NO ONE ok? just just leave us alone ok? your not making things any better for us!!! |

I believe questions like that are "attention" getters, I am sure the askers could use some attention. or maybe they are asking questions other people are too afraid to ask. I don't think they are seriously hopiing for an "answer" as guidance |

People tend to call out for help when the idea of terminating their life comes into their mind. Most people need some form of connection to other people. Often when a person decides to commit suicide they've already had plenty of alone time ti contemplate it. Asking such questions may be a form of seeking help. You should always take the idea that a person may commit suicide very serriosly, even if there's a lot of people that cry wolf Most suicides can be prevented if people respond to someone who is thinking about self-terminating.
Some people simply have a morbid curiosity about death and want to know more.
Also, if I had made the decision to kill myself I would like to find the simplest, most painless and least messy way to carry it out. |

Because they're sucidal. Suicidals don't have people that love them for who they are. They need help. |

I agree. Maybe they are asking because they are interested in doing a poll to see which is the most famous way to do it.... but yes it's very concerning. |

Maybe they do it for a response. Maybe they are considering suicide but really do not want to do it and are just looking for some ideas. People that are depressed say stuff like that at times. Sometimes they just want some one to talk to them, ask them how they are doing- you know show some interest. Tell them about different suicide hot lines and counseling agencies. There are so many people committing suicide because people like you cannot give them the time of day to say something nice- think of some one other then yourself for once!!! |

You never know what they are going through, but killing yourself isnt the rite answer, but the reason they ask that is because they want to die |

Someone who really wants to kill themselves will do it. These people are all attention seekers. |

well my thought is if someone really wants to be dead, they will be...i do not condone such actions...but there might be some support with fellow typees...by no means is this a substitute for professional help.... |

Are you very new here? Must be, huh?
Well, stick around for awhile, 'till you can't stand it anymore. . . you're due for an awesome, free, education in all the dark side aspects of humanity. . . you think asking about suicide is bad or shocking??? You ain't seen nuthin' yet - - - to coin an old cliche.
Your question - folks ask about suicide for the shock factor that it creates in the reader/writer. Kind of like reality TV, except that Yahoo Answers is the written, interactive version, with instant feedback gratification thrown in, for spice. . . |
