Cipro has made me feel sicker!!! I was just diagnosed with a UTI and sinus infection and have been taking Cip
I have been taking the cipro (500 mg a day) for 3 1/2 days now and I have gotten sicker, now its all in my chest and stuff. Should I stop taking it??? Or take it for the full 7 days and see what happens? Thanks
CIPRO is a very strong anti biotic make sure you take it on a full stomach and yes give it the whole 7 days, drink cranberry juice and water that will help.hope you get better.

you need to take the full course of the medication prescribed for it to have the proper effect. sometimes you get worse before you get better, this is common. keep taking it, but if you continue to get worse, call your doctor, they may have to prescribe a decongestant and expectorant to go along with the antibiotic. feel better!

Cipro is not supposed to affect your upper respiratory area. Didn't you get prescribed anything for your sinusitis? Cipro will take care of the UTI... you need to eat with it, but as far as chest congestion or pain, you may need to consult your physician again. Cipro is good as an antibiotic and it helps with loose stools and dissentary (stomach and bowel probs). Just call the doctor, and if he doesn't say to stop the meds, don't stop them. But, don't take it lightly. If you feel awful where your chest starts hurting, go to the ER.

It's possible that bacteria-laden drainage from the sinusitis has caused this and you're just now seeing the result. I doubt that Cipro has made you sicker. Continue the protocol and on Monday, contact your prescriber and tell that person what you told us. Leave out the part about Cipro making you feel sicker, of course.
FYI to "nunyan": Cipro is used to treat mild to moderate sinusitis caused by H. influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Moraxella catarrhalis.

Cipro is a very strong antibiotic, and if you feel as though it's causing you to feel worse, then please talk with your doctor before you stop it ok. It's imperative for you to finish antibiotics to get the full effect from them, and for it to do its job. Your doctor may need to re-evaluate your illness and possibly put you on a different UTI med. I would strongly suggest you go back to your doctor come Monday, and talk with him/her about how you are feeling, and since you are feeling worse, it's important for you to tell your doctor. Keep taking the Cipro until you speek with your doctor ok.

If you are feeling worse, contact your doctor; it's possible, though unlikely, that the Cipro has allowed a resistent organism to take root. If that's the case, your doc will probably just switch you to another antibiotic. Don't stop taking the Cipro until s/he tells you to do so; s/he may simply *add* another antibiotic to it.
