Some things that might help:
-try a support pillow that allows for proper head and neck alignment
-if you tend to stay up too late and go to bed overly tired, stop. this is a big factor.
-drink hot/warm tea or water or gargle with salt water before bed.
-try to sleep on your side.
-Breathe Right strips really DO work!
-There is also a spray for the back of your throat, by the same company. Haven't tried it yet.
-avoid drinking alcohol before bed.
-IF you are overweight, slimming down (even by 10%) contributes greatly to your sleep quality.
-You might have a deviated septum, or an issue with your soft palette, and may need surgery.
-also, it may be a sign of sleep apnea, which is a major medical issue that not many people take seriously. If this stuff doesn't work, or if you think you have sleep apnea, talk with your Dr. to make sure you don't have underlying problems. My stepdad had to go on an oxygen machine at bedtime after he almost died in his sleep.
