***Damned*** | When I shout or laugh too hard, I always get some breathing problems afterwards. HELP!? | I always get the feeling that there is phlegm in my throat, at the windpipe area. Breathing becomes pretty difficult, cause I get the feeling that I can't fill up my lungs.
This phlegm also feels very hard to get rid off. |

Sometimes, thick phlegm can be cured as simply as increasing your water intake which makes the phlegm thinner and easier to cough up. There is also a product called Mucinex which is made to assist in people coughing up phlegm. You might try either of these ideas and if they don't work, talk with your doctor. |

It sounds like asthma. I would know, I've had it for 19 years. It can be caused by exertion (and shouting/laughing can be respiratory exertion). |

you might want to mention this to your DR and have them test you for asthma - that's how i get before i have most of my asthma attacks - i feel like when i take a breath i can only get air into the top 1/3 of my lungs. asthma is sometimes caused and often associated with excess mucus production and alveolar swelling or spasm.
btw, since i was dx last year and got an albuterol inhaler, i haven't felt that way in a few months (except when i start laughing really really hard and then can't breath so i start coughing and then i need the inhaler but other than that it's much better). so yeah, go see your dr - like in the next two weeks. |

Sounds like asthma. Laughing too much/too hard is one trigger of my asthma. It feels like you describe, like there is phlegm in my throat and I cant get a full breath. Mention it to your doctor, an albuterol inhaler can be carried with you and relieve your symptoms in just a few seconds. |
