I have had asthma since 6th grade [i'm in 12th grade now] and it hasn't been acting up for like 2 or 3 years. Recently, for the past month and a half, I have had extreme wheezing, coughing, and recently a fever of around 100. It has been on and off, for the past month 1/2. the only problem is is that my parents won't take me to the doctor because we don't have a)insurance and b)the money. i have to take my nebulizer about 4 times a day, and i've taken mucinex and robitussin, and 600 mg of ibuprofen. i don't know what to do anymore, and i cant get through to my parents. please, if anyone has any advice at all, please let me know. thanks in advance. Additional Details I wish I could go to a doctor haha.
oh and btw. ibuprofen and aspirin are TOTALLY different.
aspirin is a blood thinner: bayer
i know better than that.
ibuprofen does not contain aspirin.
steam: take hot showers. i always heard drink coffee, as black as you can stand it, caffeinated is best. that helps me some. try to keep as warm as possible, at least for me, i always breathe worse in the cold. also, before i sing, i drink hot apple cider, and that always feels really good as well as the coffee. keep up with that nebulizer, i hate those things but they have become a necessary evil.
coffee and apple cider have kept me able to sing despite any problems breathing i may have, so i hope they can help you at least a little. God bless!:)

I had this problem and it ended up being that my blood didn't have enough something in it, I forget what...my pulse-ox maybe? I don't know but I ended up in the hospital with like breathing treatments and nebulizers and all this stuff for 2 days, you need to get to a doctor fast, if you ABSOLUTELY can't, you need to take a few days off of school, rest A LOT, and drink lots of fluids to keep your fever down. look for some other products besides a fast acting inhaler.
oui-oui
drinking coffee can help with asthma. You would have to find what you are allergic to.. it might be some food that you eat. You will have to get a inhaler
I can't believe how some parents are totally useless..

Most asthma attacks are triggered by something your respiratory system is allergic to, so there may be a chance that there is something in your environment that is triggering these attacks now. You may want to think about what may have caused them.
Not trying to freak you out or anything, but my brother has a history of asthma too. His hadn't been acting up for quite a long time, but once he just woke up one night with difficulty breathing and scared us half to death.
No matter what, it is better to be safe than sorry. Try convincing your parents to take you to see the doctor. If the issue is with money, you may want to approach your school nurse/clinic or talk with your teachers as to how to go about your situation.
All the best, and take care.

Stop Ibuprofen right away!

Listen, you need to get to the doctor's. I'm sure there is a free clinic somewhere...just look it up on your internet. I have asthma also, and it can be very dangerous. You really need to just take the step, and do this on your own since your parents are not helping. This is a serious matter.
