I'm sure it's just a cough/cold, you wouldn't be able to get out of bed and would have a constant high fever if it was pneumonia. I think everyone has that horrible cough, I've had the same symptoms for about a month now. If the cough is unbarable you should see a doctor anyway. Good luck, hope you feel better.

Pneumonia usually starts out with some body aches, fever (usually above 102 degrees)chills and headache. Your symptoms sound more like bronchitus right now but bronchitus can go into pneumonia if you do not take care of yourself. Once you have full blown pneumonia you feel like you can't catch your breath. Also when you fever breaks you
break out in a sweat and the coughing begins and you feel listless and weak. The cough can last up to a month and you should be coughing up thick mucus which is not clea.

I had walking pneumonia once. It started out as a bad cold where the cough didn't go away. Then after a few weeks, I had no more fever but was left w/ the cough. I eventually went to the doctor and they did a chest x-ray and I had pneumonia. I couldn't belive it. I didn't feel like I was THAT sick, but I was. So, it's possible you have it. I suggest you get to the doctor ASAP to have an x-ray done just to rule it out. I hope you feel better soon.

My son had pnemonia once, and it hurt him for us to grab him under the arms and try to move him. You could see him wince in pain. He ended up in the hospital for a week. Try reading about it on http://www.webMD.com to get an idea of some symptoms if you've got some time before a planned doctor visit.
PS, As I'm sure you've guessed, I am not a doctor, and a doctor wouldn't give you advice over the internet except to go to a doctor!

if you're not running a fever than you probably don't have pneumonia. a sore throat that lasts for a week might be a sign of strep throat. if that's the case then all you need to do is go to the doctor and get some antibiotics and then things will clear up in a day or so.

Symptoms of pneumonia vary, depending on the age of the child and the cause of the pneumonia. Some common symptoms include:
fever
chills
cough
unusually rapid breathing
breathing with grunting or wheezing sounds
labored breathing that makes a child's rib muscles retract (when muscles under the rib cage or between ribs draw inward with each breath)
vomiting
chest pain
abdominal pain
decreased activity
loss of appetite (in older children) or poor feeding (in infants)
in extreme cases, bluish or gray color of the lips and fingernails
Go to a doctor- they will be able to let you know for definate. If you feel unable to work- I suggest you don't go- you might make yourself feel worse.
