It should be strapped - but you really must get it done by a doctor.
It can take a few weeks to heal depending on whether you can avoid any strain on it, i.e. if you do a physical job it will heal slowly.

If it is a straightforward fracture there is nothing that can be done, it will heal on its own. They are not strapped anymore as this can compromise the breathing, all you can do is take pain killers and wait for nature to take its course.
It will take up to 6 weeks to heal as with any simple fracture.

You need to go to the DR or ER EMIDITALLY! incase it is something more serous! Never self diagnose your selfe, if it heals wrong you will need surgury for it to be rebroken! And you should be iceing it to help it heal. And only a DR could tell you how long to heal depending on how serous it is, you should add more detail about how it happend and how it looks (discoloring, swelling, things like that) you should see a DR

Oh you poor soul. They hurt like hell. You can do nothing my hubby had to just cope with it, they do not do anything just gave him some pain killers.

Depends on the way you were injured. Is it that it hurts when you breathe deeply and you know that you have bashed yourself? Healing takes a couple of weeks usually depending on your fitness/age/health. If you have any severe pain, a large area of bruising, and blood in your urine or pains in your shooulder you should go to a doctor as soon as possible as you may have done something more serious.
