i've never done this, it looks nasty like stuffs coming out of it. it felt like a huge paper cut. i broke a glass cup and cut my hand up but this finger really bothers me. everything above the cut feels odd, if i can really even feel it. will this ever go away after it heals? i still have feeling....? could it be glass inside?
if you feel pieces of glass jabbing into your sliced hand (there can be tiny pieces like splinters of wood) that will hurt and it will be hard to pressurize it. You need to try to put apply pressure as best you can use a first aid kit and try to get to the hospital .if its that serious just call 911

If the nasty stuff looks like puss you may have an infection because there is still glass stuck in there. Go to your Dr. and get it checked out. It is hard for them to see the glass and you don't want to risk losing part of your finger because of the infection.

Yikes. Put some pressure on it will a CLEAN cloth (guaze pad even better). Keep holding pressure on it. If it's a cut bigger than any cut you've had before, then you should probably see a doc for stiches. Stitches must be done within 24 hours of a bad cut, so go now if you think you might need stitches.
Go to the store and buy some sterile absorbant pads, some saline, and antibiotic ointment. Stop the bleeding, rinse it with saline, apply antibiotic ointment, and cover it with a sterile pad. Repeat every day for at least a week. Hopefully you'll only have to stop the bleeding once!

Sounds as if you have injured the nerve ... and if you are unable to bend the finger quite possibly lacerated a tendon as well .... get to the ER

hi, after 6 hours have passed the ER or a doctor will not put stitches in.
The old, or dead skin around the wound can not be sutured. If something other than blood is coming out it may be infected? was the glass dirty or have anything in it? If it did or your finger is infected then you need antibiotics for the infection. check and make sure you are not running a fever, if you do then go to the ER right away. If it is just draining, and it is clear, not as much to worry about than if it is yellowish or a tainted brown. Keep a close eye on, let it air out occasionally, don't keep it bandaged 24/7. Use peroxide only if it is not deep! If it is a deep cut than flush with plain water, and after cleaning it, you can swab a little of hydro-cortisone only around the outside edges, not in a open place! above it, feeling odd, is the nerves being damaged, that will. there could be glass inside the cut if it splintered or broke into small pieces, shavings, but if it was a whole piece of glass, than doubtful. But if you did not cover the wound, it is possible you got something else lodged in it after the accident. Keep a close watch on it. Good luck.
