I wore glasses ever since like 5th grade. (I know, dorky). I'm in 10th grade now and TOTALLY getting sick of glasses. I really would like contacts. Last year, I tried getting contacts, they had me try and put them in and after like 10 minutes, I gave up and told them I'd have glasses instead.
What are some good ways to get prepared for contacts? My mom said you should be able to touch the white part of your eye (hands clean). Then, you'll be ready.
I can touch it, but I'm still scared. I don't know.
Well I just got lenses bout a year ago. and, I am 14...just got bad eyesight a year ago :( But I new right for a fact that I couldn't do with glasses I would die! So I actually paid for everything (even the exam) because our family insurance doesn't pay for contacts. but anyways I went right to contacts. It took bout 30 minutes to get them in at first.. Some tips to remember. For one thing I have learned is it doesn't matter if you can touch your eye or anything because when you put contacts in you really are not touching your eye its the contact and it is made to touch your eye so don't be scared!!! and another tip Try to not pay attention to the lense going toward your eye pay attention with the other eye to get it in there! and When you get them don't sleep with them XD and yeah when I tried to put them in my eyes I throw up this is normal don't worry JK!!!!!!!!!! lol tha'ts what my eye doctor told me! well have a good one

I almost cried out of frustration. It takes lots and lots of practice. You'll always look better without glasses, and wont have to worry about losing them or even breaking the lenses (expensive to replace). You even forget you're wearing the lenses sometimes.
Just sit down in a well-lit area and take a practice pair.
Take your left hand and hold up your eyelid, and take the middle finger on your right hand to hold the bottom down. Put the contact lense on your index finger of the right hand and pop it in.
It sounds easy but will require lots of practice. Allow yourself at least 10 minutes each morning to get them in.
AND....always, always, always, keep your hands clean--eye infections are awful, and the eyedrops are $50 (for a bottle the size of a thumbnail). So be careful, but good luck! It only gets better!

My mom wore contacts for a while... she complained that they dried up her eyes. She eventually had to wear driving glasses and is still blind as a bat.
I've also noticed what happens to people when they wear glasses. They're eyes sorta go sunken-in... if you know what i mean. Even if they did switch to contacts, you could tell they wore glasses at some point.
I'd say you should stick with what you have.

I tryed contacts for quite a long time. They would dry in my eye. I would rip them when I cleaned them. They would dry up.
I went back to glasses.

I got contacts in the 9th grade and think they're absolutely wonderful.
I couldn't touch my eye when I started. I just learned when they taught me how to put them in and take them out.
It sounds like you really want to try again. So I think you should go for it. It took me a few weeks to get used to the whole thing. I would wake up 30 min early just to put them in! Haha but now I have no problems.
