Depending on what I needed done - possibly 18yr old. It would also depend on their bedside manner. |

depends on what i have done
simple checkup can be carried out by even a dental student
complexed root work would require someone with experience and therefore porbably at least 4 years qualified.
I want to be a surgeon and have nearlly finished medical school. I am sure that it will take me over 10 years before I operate solo. If you want more of a challenge choose medicine. Dentistry is for those who think they're not good enough to be docs |

I don't think age is problem if they are qualified then I will allow them to do work. |

As long as the dentist is of leagal age and has completed all education and training for profession there would not be a minimum age |

over 18 for certain because they need to have a medical qualification otherwise i will not trust them with my teeth!

So long as he/she has passed all the right qualifications I wouldnt mind how old or young they are. My sons dentist has only just passed his exams and I have to say that when i first saw him i thought 'is this boy up to doing the job' i now trust him completely i think that because he had only just come out of learning he still had everything fresh in his mind as to the do's and don'ts of dentistry |

Haha! When I started practice, I was 25 years old. One of my dad's patients came in with a toothache when he was away. She was an older Russian lady. When I introduced myself, she said in stilted language, "You are too YOUNG to be doctor ANY-sing!" and left the office, toothache and all.
If she was still alive and using Yahoo! Answers, she'd say 26. |

If the person has been to school and has the deploma and passed the state board -- age doesn't matter. |

They can fit their little hands in easily, but can (technically) count properly. |

I don't care about the youngest, it's the oldest that gets me.
My mom was being worked on by our 70 year old dentist for a root canal, and he slipped and sliced her tongue. He missed her artery (or vein) by less than a MM. In addition, her nerves have been damaged and she cannot physically move the right side of her face.
Honestly I think that a young dentist out of med school has the most current training. S/he knows what s/he is doing! It's those older dentists who are set in their ways and trust themselves too much that bother me! |
