colorblindness, while usually genetic, can be acquired if there's damage to the retina, optic nerve or in the brain. i'd assume symptoms would be immediate.
Nobby
I wouldn't imagine you could develop it
its genetic carried on the female chromosome, that's why males are more likely to be colourblind as they inherit one male and one female chromosome from their parents
females inherit two female chromosome so if one is defective the other is likely to cancel it out
injury or damage to the eye can cause it but as to just developing it I would say no
test for colour blindness

Dr Frank
The majority of colour blindness is inherited, however age, injury or disease can also cause it on occasion.
Strokes can cause colour blindness due to brain rather than eye damage. Chronic diseases like diabetes, glaucoma,M.S and alcoholism can cause it.It can also be caused by some medications such as antibiotics, barbiturates, anti-tuberculosis drugs and high blood pressure medications.
