In the past, people believed it caused brain damage. It really only affects your short term memory for heavy users. It is less harmful than a ciggarette, because think about it. Ciggarette smokers smoke 15+ ciggarettes a day. I can't see anyone I know smoking that much weed in a day. The automatic side effects are a happy feeling, laughter, a brightening of mood, increased heart rate causing you to feel warm. The long term side effects for heavy users are along the lines of bronchitis. It may have chemicals that cause cancer in it, but the TCH, which is what gets you high, causes these chemicals to not break down and get absorbed into your system. Marijuana is one of the safest drugs out there. 400,000 deaths a year from ciggarettes, 100,000 from alcohol, 0 from weed.
Never have I ever seen an angry stoner smash a bong over someone's head for looking at his girlfriend the wrong way. |

It depends on the person smoking it, what kind and how much is smoked. The effects can vary from very pleasant feelings of well being to extremely terrifying panic attacks and paranoia. Longterm side effects can include mental and physical problems including anxiety, loss of interest in normal activities, and breathing problems. I would suggest if you have never smoked weed, don't start. Besides it is illegal in the U.S. and most countries and you can end up in jail with a criminal record and possibly ruin your life. |
