OKAY PEEPS! eye question :]?
so. i have a small bump right in the middle of my left eye-lid. i know it's not a stye, because it's not on my lash line. but it freaking hurts when i blink hard. i googled around & learned that it could just be a chalazion? except it doesn't look as gnarly as it does on google. does it grow to be that big & gross!? i can't tell if it's growing...
what i'd love to know is:
- what the heck is it
- how do i make it NOT grow/get rid of it
ps: i fell asleep with my contacts on twice in 2 weeks. Additional Details i'm definitely NOT in the mood for any surgeries.
Since you slept with your contacts on twice, and assuming you wear them everyday, that bump is probably from overuse of your contacts. You'll have to go to your eyedoctor to confirm it, but I'd say to stop wearing contacts until you see your doctor. Something like this happened to my friend and she had to stop wearing contacts for for about 6-8 months because she had bumps on her eyelids.
You aren't supposed to wear your contacts for more than 10 hours everyday, and contacts are not meant for sleeping! They're not a replacement for glasses, and my eyeglasses store person told me they shouldn't be worn everyday, because your eyes need to breathe.

try warm compresses and avoid wearing contacts for a few days..
Take a washcloth and rinse it under the tap for a few minutes with the hot water running... squeeze out the excess water and hold on the eyelid for 10-15 minutes every few hours (or for how ever long is comfortable for you or convienient)
Should help with the size and pain within a few hours!
Good luck!! =)
If that doesnt work, call your local opthalmologist for an eye exam!

Could be just an ingrown hair.

I would need to know how long it has been there. Sometimes I get them right on the lid line, like where eyeliner goes. On the top and bottom they appear. It is really tiny, like a little water blister, and it scratches the heck outta my eye when I blink. It usually goes away that same day, after several hours. Just try ignoring it, so you don't cause an iinfection, and see if it goes away. I would say though, if it's still there in another day or 2, go to the doctor because you might need medicated eye drops. Or you can call a pharmace and see what over the counter they might recommend.

If you indeed do have a chalazion, there are two ways of getting rid of it. The first is what you said you don't want -- surgery. But there is another option. Your doctor can inject the chalazion with a drug called Kenalog. If done early enough, the results can be quite good. Go in and let your doctor look. He or she will be able to tell you if a Kenalog injection might help.
